Use a Prompt attachment when a file is context for the current AI request. Use My Assets when the file should be reusable project media or placed on the Timeline.
| Need | Add it here | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Give the AI a brief, image, document, or example for one task | Select + beside the Prompt composer | The file is attached to that message as context. It is not automatically placed on the Timeline. |
| Add footage, audio, images, or other media to the project | My Assets → Upload | The file becomes a project asset that can be organized and dragged to any project timeline. |
| Point the AI to media already in the project | Turn on Selection Mode, then select the asset or clip | An @ reference is added without uploading a duplicate. |
| Supply a model-specific first frame, last frame, source video, or reference image | Use the visible slot in Video Gen | The file is validated against that model’s input rules. |
Attaching a file does not mean the AI will insert it into the edit. Say what the file is for—for example, “Use this image as the opening frame”—and use My Assets if it must remain available after the request.
