Agent Selection controls which agent answers inside ChatCut Desktop’s own AI panel. The project stays open in the native editor while the selected agent reads and edits it.
- Open a project in ChatCut Desktop.
- Open the AI panel if it is collapsed.
- Click the current agent control below the composer.
- Under Agent Selection, choose ChatCut, Claude Code, or Codex CLI.
- Complete Sign in if the chosen agent requests it.
- Enter the editing request and send it.
ChatCut uses the built-in hosted agent. Claude Code and Codex CLI use compatible local installations and the corresponding provider’s account or quota. A local-agent row can be absent or disabled until its installation is detected and can start successfully.
Local agents can read permitted files such as briefs, PDFs, spreadsheets, websites, or code as context, but those files do not automatically become Timeline media. Import actual video, image, and audio through My Assets.
This is different from keeping the conversation in an external desktop agent. See External Agents and MCP.
