Codex can host the Agent Plugin in the Codex desktop app, or run as the locally installed Codex CLI selected inside ChatCut Desktop. These are separate flows.
Install the Agent Plugin in the Codex desktop app
- In ChatCut web, open the top-right avatar menu.
- Hover Agent Plugin and select Copy beside ChatGPT/Codex.
- Open the Codex desktop app, start a new task, paste the copied prompt, and send it.
- Complete ChatCut browser authorization.
- Continue in the new task created by the installer. Plugin tools are loaded when a task starts and cannot be added to the already-open installer task.
- Name ChatCut in the first editing request.
The current English prompt is:
/goal Read chatcut.io/chatgpt to install the ChatCut plugin and set up a new task for me.
Select Codex CLI inside ChatCut Desktop
Open a Desktop project, click the current agent control below the AI composer, then choose Agent Selection → Codex CLI. Complete Sign in if shown. The row is available only when ChatCut Desktop detects a compatible local installation.
Do not use the web ChatGPT conversation as the plugin installer. See Agent Plugin and External Agents and MCP.
