Understand ChatCut

Sign In and Create Your First Project

The shortest first-project path is: open the web app, sign in, import a file into My Assets, send a request from the AI panel, and review the result in the Viewer and Timeline.

  1. Open app.chatcut.io.
  2. Select Continue with Google, or select Continue with email.
  3. If you use email, enter the 6-digit code ChatCut sends you. There is no account password to create.
  4. If ChatCut asks whether to create an account for a new email, select Create and complete the same code flow.

ChatCut Desktop sends you to your system browser to finish sign-in. Return to Desktop after the browser confirms authorization.

Create or open the project

If this is the first project on the account, ChatCut creates an empty project and opens the editor. If you see the project dashboard instead, select New project.

To return to the dashboard from an open project, select the Home icon at the top-left. The project title appears in the top bar; project owners can select it to rename the project.

Add something to edit

For existing footage:

  1. Open My Assets in the media panel.
  2. Select Upload, then choose Files…, Folder…, or From phone… when that option is available.
  3. Wait until the asset is ready, then drag it onto the Timeline.

For an AI-first project, write the desired result in the AI panel. A workflow card in an empty conversation may insert a starter prompt; edit it before sending.

Send the first AI request

  1. Keep the composer in Agent mode for an editing goal involving the project.
  2. Describe the result and identify the media to use. Attach context or add an @ reference if the request needs a specific asset, clip, time, frame region, or transcript passage.
  3. Select Send.
  4. If ChatCut asks for generation approval, review the action and estimated charge before selecting Allow.

Use Video Gen instead when the immediate goal is one directly configured generated video clip rather than a broader project edit.

Review and continue

Watch the current frame in the Viewer and inspect the clips in the Timeline. Generated or imported media remains in My Assets. You can move, trim, split, restyle, or replace timeline items manually, then send another request for the next revision.

When the result is ready, select Export in the top bar. Continue to AI Panel Overview for the composer controls or Editor Layout for the full workspace map.
